Peter Hess - Pioneer of sound work

Inspired by the healing power of sound, which Peter Hess discovered on his travels to Nepal, he founded the sound massage with Singing Bowls in 1984. In 1989, together with his then wife Jozina Hess-de Korte, he began to produce his own Singing Bowls , which they subjected to the highest quality criteria.

From the very beginning, it was important to Peter Hess in the production of new Singing Bowls to combine tradition with modernity, to create fair working conditions locally and to support his second adopted home of Nepal. This is still a central concern of Peter Hess® Singing Bowls production today. With his work, Peter Hess has positively influenced the lives of many people and written a success story: his sound methods are heard in various fields of work from wellness and prevention to education and counseling to therapy and healing.

Jana Hess - second generation management

The distribution of the high-quality Peter Hess® Singing Bowls is now managed by daughter Jana Hess in the second generation. At Hess Sound, she has been responsible for the sale of Singing Bowls, gongs and many other products for sound massage and working with sound for over 20 years. In 2018, she took over the company from her mother Jozina Hess-de Korte. Hess Sound advises and supplies sound enthusiasts worldwide.

Jana Hess has been closely associated with the family business since her childhood, accompanying her father to trade fairs and sound massage seminars from an early age. Her design studies gave her further creative impetus. The company still benefits from her fresh, modern approach today.

"We are constantly developing and have many ideas that we want to implement bit by bit. Our products are becoming more and more sustainable. We're giving a lot of thought to this and are looking forward to new ideas! The team is growing and we love our connection to sound people in Germany, Europe and the rest of the world."

In addition to sales, the Hess Sound team organizes the SommerKlangEvent (June/July) and the Open Days (November) every year. Both events have become special highlights with their many free workshops, discounts at Singing Bowls and more. Together with the Peter Hess® Institute, Hess Sound also has a stand at numerous trade fairs in the fields of therapy, education, lifestyle, beauty and SPA. There, interested visitors can try out Singing Bowls and enjoy free short sound massages.

Fair working conditions

Fair working conditions

Many of our products such as Singing Bowls and gongs are manufactured in the countries of origin Nepal, India and China. We pay particular attention to good working conditions during production. Among other things, it is important to us that

  • a fair salary is paid
  • no children work in the workshops
  • we support the craftsmen financially in the event of illness and weddings.

We also try to have as many products as possible, such as mallets and other accessories, manufactured in Germany.

Sustainability

In addition to the durability of our products, we are working to use as few resources as possible. It is a matter close to our hearts to completely do without plastic in the long term. We are trying to embed sustainability more and more in every action we take as a company.

We try to use natural and renewable raw materials as much as possible in our products. We are also expanding our range to include vegan products. Online retailing generates a lot of packaging material. This is why we have given particular thought to this and are still looking for ecological alternatives and ways to reduce it.

Reuse of packaging material

Most of the packaging material is reused or recycled, e.g. we use cushions made from shredded old, unusable cardboard boxes.
