Peter Hess® Therapy & Bengali Singing Bowls

Product Safety Regulation (GSPR)

These instructions on product safety serve to ensure the sustainable use of our Peter Hess® Therapy Singing Bowls.

The production of Singing Bowls in India, which we revived over 30 years ago, draws on our knowledge of a centuries-old tradition of artistic blacksmithing. In our local production facilities, Singing Bowls are hand-forged from a bronze alloy using the pure metals copper and tin. Depending on the type of singing bowl, the round shape varies in height, diameter, wall thickness and weight (0.195 kg - 14 kg), allowing for different pitches and sound characteristics.

As each Singing Bowl is unique, certain deviations from the parameters we have defined for each type of singing bowl are possible. In addition, each Singing Bowl has individual characteristics resulting from the manufacturing processes. This includes, for example, slight scratches, discoloration or small carbon inclusions. However, these features have no influence on the sound character of the Singing Bowls, which undergo several quality checks before being sold.

Due to the nature of the bronze, the Singing Bowl may react with its surroundings and (partially) tarnish, especially in damp conditions. This is a natural process and can also be caused by soiling during regular use and by touching with hands and fingers if the Singing Bowl is not cleaned regularly and/or stored in the protective fabric cover supplied. However, any patina that may develop on the metal has no effect on the sound characteristics of the bowl.

Each of our Singing Bowls undergoes several quality checks so that material and processing defects can be ruled out and a corresponding sound quality can be guaranteed. After testing, the inside of the bowl always bears our Hess Sound quality seal, which identifies the respective quality level ("Premium" or "Classic"). The Singing Bowls are marked with an EAN code on their paper packaging; we pack them exclusively in recycled paper and with potato starch padding flakes in cardboard boxes.

The Singing Bowls should be struck carefully and not too loudly, as some vibrate in a frequency spectrum that can be perceived as unpleasant at an insufficient distance from the ear. The Singing Bowl can be played by people of all ages, but due to its potential sound volume, its weight and its metallic nature, it should only be played by children under adult supervision until they have learned how to handle it safely. Care should also always be taken to position the bowl securely, as some examples are naturally quite heavy.

In addition to its actual purpose as a relaxation, meditation, music or therapy instrument, it is permissible to use a Singing Bowl for decorative purposes. However, it should not be used as eating or storage utensils for food or as a place to store liquids.

If the Singing Bowl should fall to the ground from a great height, it can break or crack due to the inherent material tension. This usually only results in a crack a few centimeters long inside the bowl, and sometimes it can still be played afterwards.

If your Singing Bowl is irreparably damaged, you are welcome to return it to Hess Sound GmbH & Co. KG - we will then take care of the disposal.
