Gongs are among the oldest and most important musical instruments in Southeast Asia. They are available in various designs and sizes. In Peter Hess® sound massage and sound education, the gong has become a central instrument alongside the Singing Bowl . The Fen and TamTam gongs, which we have been purchasing in Asia for years, have proved particularly useful for our work. We pay attention to selected, tested quality so that you can enjoy playing and listening to them.
The TamTam Gong (Chinese temple gong) is hand-crafted from a heavy metal plate. In its finished form, it has a taut, blackened edge and a blackened center. In between, the disk is polished to a shiny gold finish.
The TamTam gong produces less spectacular vibrations than a feng gong, for example, due to this curved edge. Its sound character is voluminous (powerful) and ranges from very deep (large gongs) to rather higher tones (small gongs). In general, the TamTam gong has a more centering tone. This gong is made in excellent quality for sound work.
The gongs each have 2 drilled holes and are fitted with a cord for hanging.
